Alexander
Boissonneau-Lehner
Alexander is a partner who acts for employers, businesses, professionals and institutional clients in litigation, labour proceedings and regulatory matters.
His practice spans management-side labour and employment law, civil and commercial litigation, human-rights proceedings, construction labour relations, professional regulation, and regulatory and administrative law. He acts from the earliest stages of a dispute through motions, hearings, trials, appeals and negotiated resolutions.
Alexander has appeared at every level of court in Ontario, as well as the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal. He also appears before labour, human-rights, regulatory and professional tribunals. His appellate and judicial-review work includes decisions made under specialized statutes and cases with extensive documentary records.
At the beginning of a file, Alexander identifies the client’s objective, what must be proved, the authority of the court or tribunal, the other side’s likely incentives and the effect of the dispute on the client’s operations. Those considerations determine whether to seek an early motion, negotiate or prepare the case for a hearing or trial.
Alexander gives direct advice about the merits of a case, the available steps and the outcomes that are realistically available. He remains personally involved in the evidence, written argument and major decisions on the file.
Before joining a management-side practice, Alexander began his career at a Toronto litigation boutique and later founded and operated his own civil and employment litigation firm. That experience informs his practical understanding of the pressures facing businesses, professionals and other decision-makers involved in litigation.
Alexander received his Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in 2008 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary in 2013. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2014.
Outside his practice, Alexander is interested in technology and how it can improve the organization of information and legal work. He also enjoys travel and reading.
